Entry 26: Full Circle Moment

Today was fun. Before Karel headed back to Sydney, he asked us, on Monica’s behalf, if we would be willing to do an online hookup with him on the first weekend of the 2016 POD. Of course we were willing, and so on the appointed hour in the afternoon, we sat in front of my laptop and got the Google Hangout invite from him. I clicked “Join” and there on the screen, like a portal to the place of happy memories, was the very room in Canberra in which we had sat over all those months last year – learning from Karel, refining our projects and pitching our guts out.

Karel was a classy facilitator, asking good questions and responding to our answers to keep the flow going. We were able to get a few laughs from the crowd, and didn’t appear to bore anyone too much, so all in all I think we did OK.

It was weird, too, though. But not in a bad way. Weird, in a “this is a full circle moment and I’m aware of it” kind of way. The days when we were in that room, watching an interview with some person or other and all the time not knowing if WE were the ones that would be picked, did not seem that far away. It seemed like it was just a month or two ago. And yet, there we were, on the other side of the screen and staring at all of those faces in the classroom and it was their turn to learn, to compete, and for some of them, to be successful.

As we talked, I couldn’t help but wonder which of the faces I was looking at would end up being picked. Who would start the exciting whirlwind journey that we are currently on? Maybe some of those PODlets are even reading this little journal of mine. Maybe the person that will be picked will be you, Dear Reader.

Wouldn’t that be cool?
